Redhawks Score 191.150 at Arkansas Tri-Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Southeast Missouri recorded a 191.150 overall score in Friday evening's tri-meet at Arkansas that also included Illinois State. The Redhawks highest event score of the night came on vault, where they earned a 48.225. Arkansas finished with a score of 196.650 while Illinois State recorded a 192.025.
"I'm really proud of the athletes that stepped up tonight," head coach Kristi Ewasko said. "We had falls and mistakes that shouldn't be happening so now we will refocus and make adjustments for Sunday. Alyssa Tucker and Ashley Thomas really did their jobs in the all-around while a few freshmen stepped up on individual events. We are looking to move past tonight and will be ready to go strong on Sunday."
Thomas and Tucker finished third and fourth in the all-around with scores of 38.800 and 38.575, respectively. Thomas now has a team-high 18 scores of 9.700 or higher this season, including three in the meet.
Southeast opened on balance beam and posted a 47.400, led by a 9.725 by Tucker and a 9.700 from Thomas.
During the second rotation, the Redhawks scored 47.750 on floor exercise. Thomas recorded a 9.625 while Chelsi Hamilton notched a 9.575.
The Redhawks then moved to vault, where they registered a 48.225, paced by a 9.775 by Alexis Brawner. Thomas added a 9.700 while Tucker scored 9.625. Jordan Clark set a new career-high with a 9.600.
To close the meet, Southeast scored 47.775 on bars. Thomas tied a career-high with a 9.775 while McKenna Stanley and Tucker both finished with scores of 9.675.
Amanda Wellick of Arkansas won the all-around with a 39.425 overall score.
The Redhawks will return to action on Sunday with a home dual meet vs. Texas Woman's. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Houck Field House.
