PEORIA, Ill. – The Southeast Missouri cross country teams competed in the Bradley "Pink" Classic Friday evening. The men finished ninth overall with the women turning in a 10th-place finish. Craig Munie paced the men's team, coming in fourth in 24:31. Rebekah Lawson placed ninth with a time of 21:20.
"Both teams made a huge step forward from where we were two weeks ago," said head coach Ryan Lane. "I really like how we look going into the conference championships in a couple weeks."
Behind Munie, Tyler Holmes placed 58th in 25:33 followed by Marc Maton in 74th in 25:44 and Ryan Anderson in 76th-place with a time of 25:45. Shane Brown rounded out the top 100 finishers, placing 99th in 25:59. Tyson Stoverink (147th, 26:36), Andrew Gordon (143rd, 27:05), and Sean Brown (218th, 29:20) also ran in Peoria Friday.
On the women's side, Gloria Westlake followed Lawson in 63rd placed in 22:20 followed closely behind by Mary Dohogne in 66th in 22:22. Laura Chavez (100th, 22:39), Melanie Lacey (127th, 22:55), Megan Parks (133rd, 23:02), Lindsey Seabaugh (155th, 23:18), Madalyn Stichnot (163rd, 23:25), and Maria Trowbridge (225th, 25:25) rounded out the race for the Redhawk women.
Southeast travels to Morehead, Ky. on Nov. 2 for the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
