Quick Hits
About UT Martin – The Skyhawks are tied for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 12-1 league record to complement their 18-8 overall mark. UT Martin leads the OVC and ranks fourth in the country with its scoring average of 80.0 points per game, a figure that jumps to 89.6 points per game in OVC play. The Skyhawks are lethal from three-point range, averaging 9.9 trifectas per game (second in the nation) while making 36.2 percent of their long-range attempts (14th). In OVC play, the Skyhawks shoot 47.7 percent from the field and 41.5 percent from three-point territory. UTM also does not waste many possessions averaging only 12.9 turnovers per game (sixth best in the country) while their 17.5 assists per game ranks ninth, giving it a 1.34 assist to turnover ratio (second). The Skyhawks get the bulk of their offense from guards Heather Butler (23.6 points per game) and Jasmine Newsome (20.0 points per game). The duo accounts for 54.5 percent of UTM's points. Jaclissa Haslip is the Skyhawks' top rebounder at 6.0 per game.

'Show Me' One More Time – Saturday's contest at the Show Me Center will be the final home game for seniors Bianca Beck, Karley Evans and Amber Holmes. Beck and Evans rank third and fourth on the team in scoring, respectively, at 6.8 and 6.7 points per game. Beck has never missed a game in her career and Saturday's game will be the 114th time she has stepped on the floor, the third most for any Redhawk in their division I era (1991-92 season on). Saturday's contest will be Evans' 47th since she arrived on campus prior to the 2010-11 season. She has scored in double figures 10 times in her careerwhile making 46 three-pointers (29 this season). Holmes played in 19 or more games three times in her career, including 26 as a freshman in 2008-09. The Redhawks went 15-15 that year and qualified for the OVC Tournament with a 10-8 league record.

Change in the Ohio Valley – The Ohio Valley Conference announced a new schedule setup that will go in effect for the 2012-13 season. With Belmont joining the OVC next year, the league will have 12 teams, the most it has ever had at one time. The league is adopting a divisional format, introducing an OVC East and OVC West division. The Redhawks will be in the West Division along with Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Murray State, SIU Edwardsville and UT Martin. The East Division will feature Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech.

Critical Stretch – Two-straight losses by Southeast have allowed Austin Peay to close the gap in the race for the final spot in the OVC Tournament. Despite being tied in the standings, Southeast controls its fate with three games left. If Southeast wins one more game than Austin Peay or if the teams finish tied and the Redhawks defeat the Lady Govs in their regular season finale on Feb. 25, Southeast will make the OVC Tournament for the first time since 2008-09. Southeast can also make the tournament if it finishes the season tied with Tennessee State, due to the tea

Roberts Coming On – Junior Bailie Roberts appears to be finding her second wind to the season of late. Roberts is averaging 11.2 points per game while cracking double figures in four of the last six games after being held under 10 points in three of four games prior to this stretch. This spurt started when she scored a career-high 19 points on a career-best 8-of-16 shooting at UT Martin on Jan. 28. She followed that up with her third career double-double in a win over Austin Peay on Jan. 30, scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds. She was back at it at Eastern Illinois on Feb. 1, tallying 11 points and hauling in eight more rebounds. She also poured in 14 points (12 in the second half) in last Saturday's contest at Murray State before grabbing 11 rebounds Monday at SIU Edwardsville. The Maryville, Tenn., native is shooting 42.6 percent and averaging 8.0 rebounds per game in this six-game span.

Running Point – Senior guard Bianca Beck has moved on from a junior year that saw her struggle at the point. Beck has dished out a career-best 90 assists and sports a 1.30 assist to turnover ratio (seventh best in the OVC). In league play, Beck ranks eighth among all OVC players with 3.9 assists per game.  The senior has also been a pleasant surprise on the glass, ranking fifth on the team averaging 4.2 rebounds per contest. On New Year's Eve, the St. Louis, Mo. native dished out a career-high nine assists. She recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against Samford on Nov. 26. This is a welcome sign after a 2010-11 campaign that saw her commit 78 turnovers against only 44 assists. She has also scored in double figures seven times this season, surpassing her total from a year ago, and tied her career high in scoring (13 points) on three separate occasions.
