
Volleyball Drops Pair at Dunn Hospitality Invitational

Southeast vs. Illinois-Chicago Box Score
Evansville, Ind. - The Southeast Missouri volleyball team dropped another hard fought match Saturday afternoon at the Dunn Hospitality Invitational in Evansville, Ind. falling to Illinois-Chicago 3-2.
Scores of the match were 18-25, 25-23, 25-27, 25-19 and 15-11.
“We played a hard fought match with a good team, we had opportunity to get the win we jus couldn't finish, we played well all weekend, now we just have to prepare for the next opponent,” said head coach Julie Folliard.
The Flames (6-3) took the first match 25-18. UIC hit .333 in the match with 18 kills in the frame.
The Redhawks (2-8) bounced back and took the second frame 25-23. Southeast hit a sizzling .355 in the frame with 15 kills.
The third frame was a back and fourth affair as the Flames managed to squeak out a 27-25 win. Neither team was strong offensively in the set, but the Redhawks committed 8 errors in the frame.
Southeast was impressive in the fourth set taking the frame 25-19. The Redhawks had a game-high 16 kills in the set hitting .314. The Redhawks forced four errors by the Flames in the set.
The final frame featured only one attacking error by the Flames who hit .323 in the frame on their way to a 15-11 win and a 3-2 match victory.
Sophomore Emily Coon led the way for the Redhawks with 13 kills, hitting .320 with one block and four blocking assists.
“Coon shined for us tonight, she had a great tournament,” said Folliard.
Brittney Kalinoski had 12 kills, and Andra Baylin added 11 kills for Southeast. Kelsey Keeve added 10 kills as the freshman continues to play well for the Redhawks.
“Keeve played well for us again and proved that she can contribute on the court for us,” said Folliard.
Defensively, Samantha Lowman had 23 digs for the Redhawks. Baylin and Julie Shives each had career-highs in digs as Baylin recorded 21 and Shives recorded 20.
Julie Shives was named to the All-Tournament team for Southeast. “Julie played very well for us, she was great offensively and really helped spread the ball around and keep our offense flowing.
Southeast Missouri vs. Arizona Box Score
The University of Arizona swept Southeast Missouri (2-7) 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Dunn Hospitality Invitational in Evansville, Ind. The scores of the match were 25-16, 25-15 and 25-18.
Errors plagued the Redhawks in the opening set as Southeast fell 25-16. The Redhawks committed seven errors in the frame, hitting .059. The Wildcats hit .226 in the set with 11 kills.
The Redhawks continued to struggle in the second set with six kills and seven attacking errors as Arizona took the second frame 25-15.
Both teams found success offensively in the third set. The two teams were tied at 6-6 in the opening points of the frame as neither team committed an attacking error.
Southeast hit a solid .300 in the frame, but the Wildcats pulled away from the Redhawks in the third set and took the frame 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Kelsey Keeve, Julie Shives and Brittney Kalinoski each added six kills to lead the Redhawks. Junior Samantha Lowman led the Redhawks defensive stand with 13 digs.
The Redhawks will be in action again at 3:00 pm against Illinois-Chicago.
