
Brian Knippen Named OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Wednesday, April 12, 2005) - The Ohio Valley Conference named senior Brian Knippen OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Mississippi Invitational this past weekend in Oxford.
The Ottoville, Ohio native won the shot put with an OVC-best throw of 55'05.00" at the Invite. He later placed sixth in the discus with a toss of 153'10.00" which ranks second in the OVC this season.
For Knippen it is his first outdoor weekly honor this season. During the indoor season he was named the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Year after being awarded one weekly award during the indoor season.
Knippen is the third male athlete to be awarded a OVC weekly award this season. Distance runner Brian Whitehead and sprinter Miles Smith each won Male Track Athlete awards on March 22 and April 5 respectively.
Both the men's and women's track and field teams will return to the state of Mississippi to compete at the Jace Lacoste Invitational in Starkville on Saturday, April 16.
