1908-1913
Bernard was a three-sport athlete. Noted for his leadership, Bernard was a quarterback and exceptional kicker in football, a shortstop/pitcher in baseball and a forward in basketball. He once scored 32 points in a game during the 1911 basketball season. Bernard was voted the best quarterback on Missouri's All-State College Football Team. After his football days at Southeast, Bernard went on to earn First-Team All-Conference honors as a quarterback at Washington State in 1913. That year, Washington State won the Western Conference Championship.
