Joey Lucchesi was named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-OVC in each of his two seasons at Southeast Missouri. The only SEMO player to win OVC Pitcher of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons at the time, Lucchesi was also named the 2016 OVC Tournament Most Valuable Player He led the Redhawks to back-to-back OVC regular-season titles, on OVC Tournament crown (2016) and an NCAA Tournament appearance (2016). Lucchesi broke the school’s all-time single-season and career strikeout records. He went on to be SEMO’s second-highest draft pick when he was selected in the fourth round by the San Diego Padres during the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. Lucchesi made his Major League debut on Mar. 30, 2018.
