Klocke had a phenomenal baseball career as a four-year starting catcher at Southeast Missouri. Klocke earned All-OVC honors all four seasons, winning the league's coveted Freshman of the Year Award in 2007 and first-team accolades each of the next three years. He was a three-time All-American, earning that recognition in 2007, 2009 and 2010. Klocke was named the 2009-10 OVC Male Athlete of the Year, becoming just the third baseball player in conference history to win the award. He also finished among 10 finalists for the Lowe's SENIOR Class Award and won the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Baseball Academic All-America of the Year Award as a senior in 2010. Klocke was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 31st round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He holds Southeast's all-time career record in RBI (190) and ranks among the school's top-five career leaders in several other categories, including games started (t3rd, 213), at-bats (782, 4th), runs (t2nd, 206), hits (3rd, 283), doubles (t4th, 59), walks (2nd, 121) and total bases (3rd, 442). Klocke was also credited with eight career saves as a relief pitcher, tying for fourth all-time in that category.
