A native of nearby Jackson, Blake Smith enjoyed a highly decorated career as a member of SEMO’s track and field program. Smith was a three-time All-American and earned the 2014 OVC Indoor Championships MVP honor. He was part of one OVC outdoor title (2014) and two OVC indoor crowns (2014, 2015) with the Redhawks. Smith won OVC Championships in the indoor 55-Meter/60-Yard Dash (2014), indoor Long Jump (2014), indoor 60-Meter Dash (2015) and outdoor 100-Meter/100-Yard Dash (2015). His 6.65 mark in the 60-Meter Dash is an all-time OVC record. Smith also broke school records in the 55m and 100m events. After his stellar college career, Smith finished fifth in the USA and ranked seventh in the world 60m in 2018. He claimed a Gold medal at the Mount Sac Relays for Team USA in the 4x100 that same year.
