Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams take first at the Redhawk Invite in the 4k and 6k. Hannah Eastman and Taylor Fox tag team for first and second on the women's side. The Redhawks finished with four top-three finishes, nine top-ten finishes, and four new personal best.
Grabbing the Gold
Eastman took home the gold medal in the women's 4000-meter, crossing the finish line at a time of 14:06.4 for a new PR in the 4k.
Top Five Placers
Taylor Fox finished just behind Eastman picking up the silver medal in the women's 4000-meter. Fox finished with a new PR time of 14:25.0
Noah Little led the SEMO men finishing second in the men's 6000-meter. Little finished the race in 18:39.5.
Seth Gleason recorded a time of 19:01.3 for third place in the men's 6000-meter.
Layla Fleige finished the 4000-meter in 14:53.6 for fifth place.
Top Ten Finishes
Madalyn Gray and Brooklyn Bender finished back to back in sixth and seventh. Gray crossed the line at 15:04.6 and Bender finished her first ever collegiate race with a time of 15:10.0.
Justin Splitt ran the 6k race in 19:17.4, finishing in seventh. Splitt's time was good enough for a new personal best.
Garrett Dumke and freshman Cade McCadams finished the race nearly together in ninth and 10th, with times of 19:17.9 for a new PR and 19:22.8.
Graduate student Brianna Payton finished the 4000-meter race in 15:28.2 for 10th.
Notable Performances
Terrico Garrett finished in 11th place with a time of 19:31.3 in the men's 6000-meter.
Myles Thornburg, a freshman from Liberty, Mo. finished his first collegiate race in 19:41.0 placing in 14th place. Nick Cimmarusti finished right behind Thornburg with a time of 19:41.9.
The sophomore Kayla Vogelsang finished with a new personal best in the women's 4000-meter. Vogelsang placed 13th with a time of 15:31.0.
Ryan Seabaugh finished the men's 6000-meter in 17th place crossing the finish line in 19:52.8.
Alayna Sparr recorded a new PR crossing the finish line at 15:47.8 and placed 15th. Sarah Russom finished in 16th place with a time of 15:51.3.
Micah Grawer and Clayton Eftink finished in 20th and 21st place. Grawer finished his first cross country race in 20:25.0 and Eftink crossed the line at 20:25.1.
Missouri and Cape Girardeau native Haley Smith crossed the line at 16:10.9 for 24th and fellow Missourian Mackenzie Pugh finished the race with a time of 16:15.
Connor Ayers placed 26th finishing in 20:45.6 and Louis Primeau crossed the finish line in 20:49.1 for a new PR and 27th place.
Looking Ahead
Following the Redhawks Cross Country Invitational, SEMO will be back in action at the John McNichols Cross Country Invitational on the campus of Indiana State. The men will compete in an 8K beginning at 9 a.m. while the women will follow with a 5K at 9:45.
