Stephen Waggener

    Assistant Coach
Stephen Waggener begins his first season as a member of the Redhawks coaching staff. This is his second year of coaching after serving in the same capacity at his alma mater, the University of West Alabama. He will serve as the team's first base coach and assist with the outfielders and catchers as well as providing instructions to all hitters. Other duties assigned are administrative duties and off-season conditioning.

While serving as a coach at his alma mater the team set a school record for wins in a season after going 45-19. The team advanced to the NCAA Division II Regional, the first appearance by the program since 1992 when current Redhawks head coach Mark Hogan was at the helm of the Tigers. The Tigers also won their first Gulf South Conference title since the 1992 season.

Coach "Waggs" was a standout third baseman and catcher for West Alabama for two seasons after playing two seasons at Holmes Community College. While playing for the Tigers he was named team captain his senior season and was voted the team's best player. At Holmes he was named 2nd Team All-State and 2nd Team All-Region.

A native of Madison, Mississippi he and his wife Brittany currently reside in Jackson, Missouri. He received his bachelors of business and administration from West Alabama in 2003 when he graduated with a grade point average of 3.5. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in sports science from the United States Sports Academy.
