Zach Borowiak was a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference shortstop, earning first-team honors in 2001 and second-team honors in 2002 and 2003. A four-year starter, Borowiak finished his career as Southeast Missouri’s all-time doubles leader. He also ranked among the school’s career leaders in games started, at-bats, runs, hits, total bases and RBI. Borowiak began his career by earning Honorable Mention Freshman All-America honors after starting every game during his rookie campaign in 2000. He was a 17th-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2003 and played in the Red Sox organization for six years, reaching the AAA ranks.
