Sherry Mitchell claimed All-MIAA honors in all four of her years at SEMO. Mitchell was an honorable mention All-MIAA pick in both 1988 and 1990, a second-team selection in 1989 and a first-team pick in 1991. She holds SEMO's all-time career records in games played (123), assists (639) and steals (335). Mitchell owns the school's single-season records in both assists (232, 1990-91) and steals (114, 1988-89). Scoring wise, Mitchell accumulated 1,398 points in her career, which stand fifth all-time in program history. She also ranks tied for 10th in career rebounds with a total of 667. Mitchell was part of teams that won two MIAA regular-season titles and one MIAA Tournament crown. She played in the NCAA Division II Tournament all four years and made the NCAA Tournament finals with her 1990-91 team.
