One of the most prolific scorers in Southeast basketball history, Porter averaged 27 points per game as a junior in 1979-1980 and 25 points per game as a senior in 1980-1981. He ranks among the top-10 all-time leading scorers in school history. Porter was named Second-Team All-America by the NABC in 1981. His two-year scoring average of 25.8 points per game ranks as the best ever in the MIAA.
