Angel Rubio is Southeast's all-time career leader in sacks (21.5) and tackles for loss (44.0). Rubio finished his college career with a total of 330 tackles. He was a member of the American Football Coaches Association and Sports Network All-America teams in 1997 and garnered the coveted Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year award that same season. Rubio was a First-Team All-OVC selection in 1997 and twice earned Second-Team accolades in 1994 and 1996. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL Draft and was a member of several teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Orlando Predators, Las Vegas Outlaws, Detroit Fury, Dallas Desperados and Austin Wranglers.
